RAF Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled this afternoon to escort a Manchester bound aircraft into Stansted.
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK709 (callsign PIA709) from Lahore, Pakistan had been expected to arrive in Manchester, England at 14:00 BST.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, registration number AP-BID, was instead intercepted over the North Sea and looped round over Yorkshire before landing in Stansted.
